Biosecurity

What does biosecurity or biological security mean? It could be defined as the application of a set of knowledge, techniques, equipment and preventive requirements that are used with the aim of guaranteeing the control of risk factors arising from the human handling of biological, physical or chemical agents, in order to prevent workers and environment from exposing themselves to potentially infectious agents or to biological risk agents.

Industry

What does industrial sector mean? Industry is the economic activity which transforms raw materials into manufactured products. In this production system, different production factors and waste generation (solid, liquid or gaseous waste) are combined, which cause environmental pollution problems.

Environment

What does environment mean? From an ecological point of view, it could be defined as a system composed by the addition of interrelated natural and anthropic factors, of physical, chemical or biological nature, acting on an individual, a population or a community in a particular moment and place, which are permanently changing because of natural and human intervention. Environment also involves abiotic (geology, hydrology, climate, etc.), biotic (flora, fauna, landscape, etc.), socioeconomic, cultural and patrimonial elements, as well as the relation among them.
